Tham Pua cave (or Tham Bang cave) is located in Bung Lao commune, Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province. It is a natural beautiful cave with the large and deep space and many alleys. It is about nearly 100m high. This is also the first head quarter of the Dien Bien Phu campaign.
In the middle of the cave, there is a large block of marble, which is flat like a table. There are lots of stalactites in the dome and cliff which are in the shapes of dragon, phoenix, lion, elephant, or the gorgeous orchards.
Tham Pua cave is not only a nice cave, but local people discovered here a kind of axe, pestle to pound the food and some fossil bones of animals.
Coming deeper in the cave, there are much more alleys which create the mysterious way. Apart from the role of a vestige in the complex of Dien Bien Phu winning, Tham Pua is also an oldest archeologist relic site in Tuan Giao area.
It is said that this relic was discovered in 1985, and being the narrow roof of stone of 4m wide, the floor of the cave is uneven and wet. At first, the research group collected about 19 tools of the stone, three undefined tools and other animal bones and wrinkle cover. According to the adjustment of the expert, Tham Pua relic is in the cultural era of Hoa Binh.
Nowadays, Tham Pua cave is suggested to be acknowledged as the national vestige and the visiting place for nature discovering.
